An IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) is a healthcare professional certified through rigorous education, clinical training, and examination to provide expert breastfeeding and lactation care. IBCLCs adhere to international standards and evidence-based practices to support complex feeding needs for both parent and baby.
Each consultation includes a thorough review of your medical and feeding history, an assessment of your baby’s feeding, and individualized guidance to address your goals and concerns. You’ll receive an evidence-based care plan with practical strategies tailored to your family’s needs.
Ideally, a consultation should take place within the first week after birth, or sooner if you experience pain, difficulty latching, or feeding concerns. Prenatal consultations are also encouraged to prepare before delivery.
Absolutely. Including your partner or support person can be helpful to ensure everyone feels informed and confident about the feeding plan.
Prenatal consultations are typically scheduled between 28–36 weeks of pregnancy, though they can be done at any time during pregnancy.
We ask that clients provide at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or reschedules. Cancellations with less notice may be subject to a fee to allow us to serve other families in need.
Virtual consultations are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You’ll receive a link before your appointment and can connect from your phone, tablet, or computer.
A referral is not required to schedule a consultation. However, some insurance providers may request a referral for reimbursement purposes. You are welcome to self-refer at any time.
Peaceful Path Lactation LLC prioritizes the privacy and security of all clients. Virtual consultations are conducted using HIPAA-compliant platforms to protect your personal and medical information. Any records, notes, or communications are handled with strict confidentiality in accordance with professional and legal standards, ensuring your information remains safe and secure.
